Food Hunting : Rojak Asma

Ronda2 ptg tadi kat Jln Kerja Ayer Lama, Ampang Jaya (sebelah SPCA).
Hubby suggest mkn kat sini masa tak sengaja lalu kat depat deretan gerai kat situ & ternampak ni..
Hubby mmg pantang nampak tempat yg ada jual Johor specialty, mesti nak cuba. Masa kami sampai gerai baru nak mula operasi (about 5pm).. so after tunggu about 1/2 jam.. ini lah hasilnya..
Kami amik cucur udang, tempe, tauhu, telur, bergedil & kentang. Semua baru RM5. Kira ok ler..

Sementara tunggu rojak asma, kami (bertiga.. hubby & I + my sister, Yan) order satay.. mmg best. Amik ayam, daging & perut.. semuanya 15 cucuk.

Kami jugak kongsi jamah nasi lemak.. yg ni tak best sgt sbb nasi tak cukup masak.

Dhill's cooking : Almond Biscotti


Dah tengah malam ada pulak request utk buat biscotti. This is my first attempt... mujur menjadi. Super simple to prepare the dough.. but took so long to bake (...for impatience people like me lar!).. 1st u need to bake it in loaves form. Then let it cool slightly before u slice and bake it again.

This Italian specialty has become very popular in North America. Unlike the sweet cookies we are used to, biscotti are crisp and crunchy and can easily stand up to a dunking in our coffee or wine. This is a traditional biscotti, as it does not contain butter or oil, that uses eggs to bind the ingredients together. If you like your almond biscotti to have the flavor of anise, just add up to a tablespoon of anise seeds or else 1 teaspoon of pure anise extract.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Toast almonds for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned and fragrant. Let cool and then chop coarsely. Set aside.
Reduce oven temperature to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl lightly beat the eggs and extracts together. Set aside.
In the bowl of your electric mixer (or with a hand mixer) combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Beat until blended (about 30 seconds). Gradually add the egg mixture and beat until a dough forms, adding almonds about halfway through. With floured hands divide dough in half. On a lightly floured surface roll each half of dough into a log about 10 inches (25 cm) long and 2 inches (5 cm) wide. Transfer logs to the prepared baking sheet, spacing the logs about 3 inches (7.5 cm) apart, and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until firm to the touch (logs will spread during baking). Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes.
Transfer logs to a cutting board and, using a serrated knife, cut log into slices 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) thick on the diagonal. Arrange evenly on baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes, turn slices over, and bake another 10 minutes or until firm to the touch. Remove from oven and let cool. Store in an airtight container.

Note: Can substitute hazelnuts or walnuts for the almonds. If desired, add 1 tablespoon (5 grams) of orange or lemon zest to the egg mixture.
You can put a chocolate glaze on the biscotti. Melt 3 ounces (85 grams) of semi-sweet or white chocolate and 1 teaspoon (5 grams) vegetable shortening in a small metal bowl placed over a saucepan of simmering water. Stir until melted and smooth. When melted, place chocolate into a parchment triangle or small plastic bag with one edge cut.
Pipe onto the biscotti in a decorative pattern. Alternatively, you can dip or spread with a small metal spatula one side of the biscotti with chocolate and let dry on a clean baking sheet.
Makes about 40 biscotti.

1 cup (145 grams) blanched whole
almonds, toasted and chopped coarsely
1 teaspoon (5 grams)
baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups (280 grams) all-purpose
flour
3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated white
sugar
3 large
eggs
1 teaspoon
pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract

Ini gambar ayam gajus, ulam & sambal belacan .. and sup kosong.

Kerabu mangga .. & Lala bercili yg sangat mengecewakan. Sebabnya.. yg pertama aku dah bagitau masa order.. semua food taknak manis. Sekali datang punya ler manis melekat. Yg kedua, ini bukan spesis lala yg biasa aku mkn tu.. ntah lala spesis apa tah. Isi kecik sesangat.. hubby bising kata lala tak de isi. Bila aku check, tgk rupa2nya mmg jenis isi kecik gila. Harap shell je yg besar. Betul2 tak puas hati!

Hari ni aku n hubby pi park royal. Konon2 nak shopping sbb ada warehouse sale FJB .. ada Guess, Gap, Banana Republic, Raoul etc.. tp aku tak puas hati sgt. Tak mcm yg aku pegi sblm ni.. so balik empty handed. Tp sblm balik pegi layan tekak kat Chatz kat bawah park royal tu..

lepas tu on the way nak ke tmn kosas, hubby bawak aku ke SPCA. Nak tgk kucing.. tengah dok tengok2 dan bertanya utk adoption, sekali ada 1 girl n her mum bawak 5 ekor kitty kat situ. Dia tanya klu aku nak ke tak? Klu nak aku tak yah bayar apa2. Aku nak sekor-dua je. Org kat SPCA kata klu aku nak amik, aku kena amik semua. Hubby agak berat nak amik. Then emak budak tu suggest aku amik dulu semua, then after few days aku hantar je yg mana aku taknak kat SPCA. Ok gak tu.. So, ini le kucing2 tu..

Menjunjung kasih Tuanku!

Penghibur lara

Aku dgn Ben..

inilah penghibur hati aku & hubby sejak 2 minggu lepas. Setiap kali nak pegi or balik kerja kami akan berbual pasal Ben. Bila pegi shoppingpun asyik nak cari barang utk Ben. Pada org lain mungkin Ben is not so comel. Tp pada kami dia comel especially keletah dia..
Bila balik kerja kami akan pelan2 intai dia, mmg tak dengar bunyi apa2pun. Bila je dengar kunci bukak pintu, sure akan kedengaran bunyi loceng kat leher dia... bukak je pintu dia akan tercegat sambut kami.. Malam2 sibuk nak main dgn kami. Berguling2 atas lantai or sofa.. melompat keliling rumah. Sekarang ni pun hubby tengah melepak depan pintu dgn Ben..
In short kami tak le boring sangat sekarang ni..

Raja buah

I love durian.. dan surely ramai lagi pencinta durian kat luar sana. Aku suka durian mentah, dimasak dan juga tempoyak.
Masa balik taiping bulan lepas aku dapat merasa durian yg out of this world. Sedap giler.. kuning lemak-manis-pahit sikit2! Emak masak kuah durian (pengat) & tanak pulut. Aku pulak buat roti jala..

aku mkn durian mentah dgn pulut - then taruk santan (+garam sikit) & gula. Ini specialty kat rumah kitaorang.. tak cukup pulut aku mkn dgn nasi pulak. Campurannya ttp sama i.e. durian, santan & gula. Mesti pelikkan for u'all! Tapi aku dah mkn durian (bukan tempoyak tau) dgn nasi since aku kecik2 lagi.. mmg yummy!

my shoes collection

my new addition.. after i've stopped buying shoes for quite awhile...

I also bougth 1 sandal about 2 weeks ago. Aku nak gantikan dgn my Roberto dicamerino yg almost hari2 aku pakai tak kira kat opis or acara santai kat luar!

Tried this last sunday at one of shoe outlet at Jusco Tebrau City, JB.. how I wish it could fit my giant foot.. camner ler kaki aku boleh ter'besar' pulak.. minta saiz yg besar sikit je lagi.. dah abis le pulak.. sampai 2 kali pegi sana.. tried again & again.. dgn harapan ia muat kaki aku, tp aku keciwa .. try yg display mcm muat je, bila mintak new stock, rasa uncomfortable.. so dgn berat hatinya aku give-up..

Mcm byk je kasut primavera aku... agak selesa & fashion lebih update. .. walaupun pernah jugak dulu baru je beli tumit dah tercabut. Aku juga teringin nak beli Elle.. tp jarang jumpa.. so, ada le sepasang yg aku beli.. & aku dah tak ingatpun kasut tu kat mana ler ni! Selain tu aku ada Roberto Dicamerino dgn Sembonia jugak..

no mood to blog

aku cuti hari ni.. baru balik dr jb. Balik sana dr hari sabtu lagi. Ada jemputan kahwin dr paman hubby... anak lelaki ke-2 dia kahwin.

Tiba dr jb dah about 2 sth.. solat, then keluar pegi shah alam. Tengok rumah dulu, jln dah tar, tp blm fully siap. Maybe by end of this month siap ler kut.. tak sabar aku nak pindah. Nanti tak le jauh dr opis lagi. Oh ye.. opis aku dah pindah kat subang. Pindah barang since mid-Oct lagi. Office-mate aku dah start kat sana since tuesday. Aku pulak hari jumaat baru pegi.. sibuk siapkan presentation utk bos aku. Tadi dia text aku from surabaya, indon.. "sudah lega. Ibu-ibu sini cantik-cantik. Saya nngak mahu pulang".. kan aku dah kata, cewek2 Indon mmg manis2... tp dia kata those yg dtg kat malaysia ni tak cantikpun.. ye la.. yg cantik mana cowok2 ganteng di sana nak lepaskan..
xtually masa aku pegi bandung baru2 ni dia suruh aku tgk environment kat sana.. anak ke-2 dia nak buat medic kat sana.. it's either bandung or surabaya (kut? aku lupa..)
..i'll continue bila mood dtg nanti...

New Kid On the Blog

Rapheydhillo would like to welcome our new family member.. Ben! Ye, kami namakan dia Ben. Why Ben? We found Ben infront of Maybank while withdrawing money from ATM kat Jln Ipoh semalam. Ben .. sound sama mcm Bank. Takkan nak taruk Bank pulakkan! Klu betina sure kami taruk nama May! he... he.. he..
Masa jumpa tu xtually dah dekat 11 mlm.. dia mengekori hubby masa kluar kereta on the way to ATM. Kesian tgk dia, kami decide amik bela.. rupa tak cute sgt, tp keletahnya yg cute!

Ben sleeping on the blue cushion.. manja tp still takut2. Surprisingly, bila hubby ckp tidur terus je dia landing atas cushion biru... sblm hubby tidur smlm, Ben tidur atas cushion tu. Tup..tup.. pagi tadi bila aku bangun Ben dah tak de.. penat kita cari satu rumah.. tp tak jumpa. Rasanya tak de tempat dia blh escape, cuma ada lubang kat dapur je.. tp we don't think dia blh panjat.. cadangnya hari ni nak kluar beli cage & food for him. Tp since dia dah hilang terus tukar plan. Instead of pegi pets shop, kami merayap kat Jusco IOI mall. Masa nak pegi, aku turun ikut tangga, hubby guna lift.. mana le tahu kut2 terjumpa dgn Ben.
Merayap dr pukul 11 sth sampai le pukul 5 ptg. Masa balik hubby pegi kedai phone..sambil2 tu tgk kat dumping area, mana2 tau kut terjumpa Ben. Aku pulak terus naik rumah.. bila bukak pintu aku terus tgk kat cushion biru Ben.. tak de. Aku terus masuk bilik .. pintu aku biar terbuka. Tak lama lepas tu hubby pun sampai sambil mencicit panggil Ben. Eh.. tetiba terus nampak Ben kat celah sofa. Aku ingat hubby main2. Bila aku kluar mmg betul Ben ada kat situ. Rupa2nya dia menyorok kat lubang belakang cabinet tv. Mmg kami tak sangka dia blh menyorok kat situ. Lepas solat terus kami kluar pegi pets shop. Mula2 kat tmn desa, tp kat situ byk utk puppy. Terus pegi midvalley. Beli kat C-4 je.. cage baru RM 69.

Ini gambar semlm, kasi minum susu dutch lady full cream.. food yg dibekalkan oleh Pak Ndak aku.. xtually kami pegi rumah Pak Ndak lepas jumpa Ben smlm. Since dia pun bela kucing & byk stok makanan, itu yg dibekalkan Ben siap dgn bekas sekali.

aishwarya rai

aku tak de le gila tgk citer hindustan sgt.. setakat citer aa gale lag ja yg sashi kapoor, sharmila tagore & amir khan berlakon tu dan satu citer yg ada lagu "re mama, re papa re.." aku tak ingat citer apa.. dan juga beberapa filem late 90's .. shah rukh khan & kajol (aku suka sesgt dgn kajol..)
aku tak berapa suka sgt dgn aishwarya rai dulu.. sbb dia byk berlakon citer tamil.. tp filem yg buat aku suka banget kat dia citer ni.. DEVDAS.. aku tertengok kat tv3.. klu tak silap tayang masa raya .. punya le cantik .. terpegun aku.. cinematography cantik giler.. camera movement cantik.. lakonan hebat.. mmg aku suka sgt, sampai aku beli cd dia.. tp gambar tak secantik berbanding masa tgk kat tv, walaupun cd ori.. (aku beli cd ori je ye.. except hubby yg kengkadang terbabas beli pirated sbb yg ori lambat kluar.. wayang pulak dah habis tayang)
DEVDAS.. ada aishwarya rai, SRK, madhuri dixit .. & sorang pelakon lama yg rambut panjang & ada tahi lalat atas mulut tu.. aku lupa nama dia.. semua casting hebat2!

Alone at home

I'm alone at the moment.. hubby's working. Will be back in a moment.. and i just had my lunch.. xpress nasi minyak..

Very easy to cook..
i use 3 cups of basmathi rice (cwn kecik sukat beras tu..)
carrot - diced
halia & bawang - dihiris
kulit kayu manis
2 bunga lawang
minyak sapi 2 sudu besar
daun pandan
garam & gula
method - cuci beras & sukat air dlm rice cooker mcm masak nasi biasa.. rendam 1/2 jam. Dlm kuali.. tumis bawang sampai kuning, masuk halia , kayu manis & bunga lawang.. bila dah naik bau, curah atas beras tadi.. masuk carrot, garam, gula & daun pandan.. switch-on rice cooker & masak mcm biasa..
For rice, i normally stock-up basmathi kat rumah.. although it is slight expensive tp it is good sbb tak byk kanji.. so less carb.. dan aku mmg masak hari2 pun pakai beras ni. My favourite is Faeza Kashmir.. tak mahal sgt macam Faeza Moghul (betul ke?). Klu dulu I can get it at RM13.90 to RM 15 per 5 kg.. then increased to about RM17, sekarang ni dah naik sampai RM28.00. Kandungan hancur klu dulu just 1% sekarang ni dah 5%. Klu beras biasa aku prefer Faeza Emas.. ini beras tempatan. Dulu aku suka beras siam.. tp semenjak aku sedar kena tolong local paddy growers (about 4-5 tahun lepas) , aku turn to beras tempatan. Cumanya basmathi rice je aku beli imported .. BTW ada ke basmathi tempatan?
